Sahara star gazing experience

How long is the camel ride?

The camel ride typically lasts between 1 to 1.5 hours each way. On the way to the camp, you’ll stop in the dunes to enjoy a breathtaking sunset and take photos. The return ride in the morning includes a peaceful journey as the desert slowly wakes up with the sunrise. It’s a calm and scenic experience suitable for most travelers.

Is the desert camp private or shared?

You will have a private luxury tent at the camp. Each tent is spacious and beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, clean linens, and usually a private bathroom with a toilet and shower. It’s a blend of traditional Berber style and modern comfort, giving you a peaceful and private night in the desert.

What should I bring for the overnight stay?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and closed shoes for the camel ride. Bring a light jacket or sweater, especially during fall or winter, as nights in the desert can be surprisingly cold. Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a small backpack for personal items, and of course, a camera or phone to capture the stunning views.

Are meals included?

Yes, a delicious traditional Moroccan dinner is served at the camp, followed by a light breakfast in the morning. Dinner usually includes soup, tagine, salad, bread, and fruit. Vegetarian or special meals can be arranged with advance notice please inform us of any dietary restrictions when booking.

Can children participate in this tour?

Absolutely! This tour is family-friendly and suitable for children. Kids can ride with an adult on the same camel if needed. The desert camp is safe, and the staff are welcoming and attentive to families. It’s a wonderful experience for children to explore nature and local culture in a unique setting.

Is there electricity and Wi-Fi at the camp?

Most luxury camps in Merzouga offer solar-powered lighting and outlets to charge phones and small devices. Some camps provide limited Wi-Fi, but it’s not guaranteed. It’s a great chance to disconnect from screens and enjoy the beauty of the desert, starry skies, and cultural activities.

What happens to our luggage during the trip?

Your main luggage can be safely stored at the starting point before the camel ride. If needed, it can also be transported to the camp by a support vehicle (4×4). We suggest bringing only essentials with you on the camel (small backpack, jacket, water, etc.).

Do I need travel insurance?

While not mandatory, we strongly recommend having travel insurance that covers medical assistance, delays, and personal belongings especially for peace of mind during outdoor and remote experiences like this one.

What if there’s bad weather?

The Sahara usually enjoys clear skies, but in case of strong winds, sandstorms, or rain, we may modify the experience for your safety and comfort. This could include shorter camel rides or 4×4 transfers to the camp. Your safety is our top priority.
