Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your driver/guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may visit the impressive Hassan II Mosque, perched on the Atlantic coast and one of the largest mosques in the world. Enjoy a relaxed evening in Morocco’s commercial capital.
After breakfast, depart for Rabat, Morocco’s capital city. Visit the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas overlooking the ocean. After lunch, continue your journey north through the scenic Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue City.” Enjoy a calm evening wandering its blue-painted streets and relaxing in a charming riad.
Leave Chefchaouen in the morning and head toward the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore the well-preserved mosaics and arches of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then visit the imperial city of Meknes to see the impressive Bab Mansour gate and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Continue to Fes for your overnight stay in a traditional riad in the heart of the medina.
Enjoy a full-day guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual and cultural capital. Discover the maze-like streets of Fes el-Bali, a UNESCO-listed old medina filled with history and craftsmanship. Visit the Al-Qarawiyyin University, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the famous tanneries, and artisan workshops. In the afternoon, enjoy a panoramic view over the medina before heading back to your riad.
Leave Fes behind and begin your scenic journey south. Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane (known as the “Switzerland of Morocco”) and the cedar forest of Azrou, home to wild monkeys. Enjoy lunch in Midelt, then continue through the Ziz Valley with its palm groves and kasbahs. Arrive in Merzouga near the Sahara dunes in the late afternoon. Today is all about discovering the magic of the Sahara. After breakfast, begin your exploration of the Merzouga region. Visit the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music performed by descendants of former sub-Saharan slaves. Then, take a 4×4 tour through the desert, visiting nomadic families still living in traditional tents. You’ll see fossil-rich areas, panoramic desert viewpoints, and possibly dry lake beds like Dayet Srji. Enjoy a traditional Berber lunch with a local family or in the village. In the late afternoon, ride camels across the dunes to your desert camp. As the sun sets over the sand, enjoy mint tea, dinner, and Berber music under the stars.
Wake early to catch the magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, return by camel or 4×4 to the village and head toward Rissani, known for its traditional market. Then drive through desert landscapes to reach the dramatic Todra Gorges, where you can walk between towering canyon walls.
